The Diploma-IV of Nursing Anesthesiology is a new program that promoted firstly by the Institute in 2017. In this program, 8 semesters that divided into 4 levels/years (year I, II, and III) should be passed in order to be a professional nurse anesthesiologist. The maximal education duration of this program could be up to 14 semesters (7 years). The course comprises 146 credit points of study. Diploma-IV of Nursing Anesthesiology has been designed to incorporate clinical learning and supervised cases arrangements in specific services setting. In addition to the extensive knowledge and experience of many trainings, the nurse anesthesiologist has to possess good communication skills, show high empathy, and be proficient because anesthesiology is no longer limited by surgical space, but has expanded into conscious recovered and intensive therapy/ treatment.
After successfully completing this course, students will be awarded the qualification of Diploma-IV of Nursing Anesthesiology / Sarjana Terapan Keperawatan Anestesi (S.Tr.Kep.An.). Nurse Anesthesiologists are assigned to provide perioperative nursing services in the operating room and involve two parts of the nurse’s job, i.e. surgical nurses (nurse instruments, circular nurses) and anesthesia nurses. They are in charge of giving an injection of numbness and reanimation in accordance with the roles and regulations in hospital. As the population grows, there will be growing demand for nurse anesthesiologist and other medical professions.
